Breast Reduction - Op.Dr.Nazmi Yogurtcu

Breast Reduction

Breast reduction is a surgical procedure mostly chosen by patients with larger and heavy breasts causing them to feel neck and back pain and by those who have uncomfortable feelings of how their large breasts look like. Also, it is believed that overly large breasts hinder women from being physically active. Most is usually unable to find proper sports bra or may feel embarrassed by the movement of their breasts, therefor seek solutions for a permanent change and we offer safe and aesthetically promising end results to our patients.

Dense breasts can be explained by genetic reasons or pregnancy associated conditions. Unlike the popular belief, breast reduction can also be a solution for asymmetry problems and results in moderate reduction in the size of breasts.

Pregnancy can be a determinant for breast reduction. Considering that breast reduction involves removal of glandular tissue and ducts that produce milk supply, the parts to remove should be strategically planned by your surgeon. Therefor, our surgeon will evaluate your concern of area first and understand your expectations so that the tailor-made surgical plan can be made and performed accordingly.

In the surgery, excess breast tissue and skin will be removed and the nipples be relocated into the intended position to achieve the most aesthetic result with desired size.

Since nipples are the sensate unit of women breasts, primary concern of mammaplasty may be the preservation of nipple sensation. However, that is completely dependent on how qualified your surgeon is with that and also how qualified to modify surgical plan accordingly.

Your clinical experience starts with a quick snapshot of your overall health and physical consultation with our surgeon in which all surgical details are exchanged, your questions being answered and details being communicated.

Procedure takes for about two-three hours and patients are discharged from the hospital the day after the procedure, however a list of post-operative instructions for aftercare is provided to our patients to ensure the ease of mind and highest quality end result with most aesthetic outcome.

The recovery lasts about 2 weeks. The scarring fades away progressively and gradually. A medical support bra is worn after the surgery for faster recovery and decreased oedema. You may get back to your daily routine after 1-2 weeks. Excessive physical activities and heavy work out should be avoided at least 2-3 weeks, and incisions must be well looked after with the help of post-operative instructions you will be given.
